Good First Game

Bishop Under 13s 36 Darlington 24

Bishop Auckland Under 13s were at home to Darlington for their second match of the season. Bishop only had 11 men and so the game was played 11 v 12. The game began with a number of great runs by Alec and Thomas Moss, but the Darlington tackling was excellent. Charlie was always a threat, getting stuck in as usual. Thomas scored the first try with a typical darting run. Darlington began to get on top and scored three tries before half time, converting two. The half time score was 19 - 5 to Darlington.

Darlington looked like scoring again but two superb try saving tackles by Alec saved the day. Alec then scored a try, running through the middle of the defence; 'Nelly' kicked the conversion. Another try by Thomas followed by 'Nelly's' conversion levelled the scores. Darlington were now getting tired and couldn't keep up their good defensive work. Ryan was in support to score a try. A run from halfway by 'Nelly' saw him break through a number of tackles on the touchline before scoring in the corner. Alec added another to make the score 36 - 19. It was to Darlington's credit that they refused to give up and they scored with the final play of the game to make it 36 -24. This was a fine performance by the lads and with more matches in the coming weeks they can only get better.
