Only 10 players for us against a full strength Mowden park. Mowden are one of the strongest teams in the county and our under 10s have had a lesson or two from this well drilled team over the years. Fortunately for us our team put on their game heads from the Kick off. The team (led by Perry Houston for the first time) played aggressive attacking Rugby. The four forwards Matthew Brunny, Cameron
Kitchy,Stuey sowerby and Rob first try Ather . Took the game to Mowden. Winning the Battle up front, taking all their own ball and most of Mowdens in the scrum. Jordan Galloney and Harry Mac. Fed ball after ball out to the quite brilliant Matty Hanner, who sent the back line into over drive. Sam Hamo smashed up the middle of the park feeding the flyers Jamie the predator Redfearn (four try’s and player of the week) and captain Marvel Perry Houston stretching the Mowden defence to breaking point. Mowden never gave up scoring try for try with Bishop. The last word went to Galloney after another marauding run from Hamo who sucked in the defence and popped the ball up for Galloney to dive over the line for the winning try.
The Second Game
The score 1 v 1,
This game was even better than the first. 20 minutes of attrition.
One try from Mowden’s Toby and one Bishop’s Hamo. If effort could be measured in pound notes all of these players would be millionaires. Tackle after knee and elbow scraping Tackle from both sides. Wonderful rugby but a draw was always going to be the result. Then the last play was called by the referee, Bish broke free from a scrum against the head the ball was whipped out like a missile from Mac. down the line the ball went freeing Hamo with only 30 meters of open field and not a defender in sight the game would be Bishop’s Then the Ref,( A handsome yet not terribly hair suit fellow)Blew the whistle for an injury to a mowden player. Scrum followed for Bishop who could not break the fantastic visitor’s defence. The Game ended a very fair one try all . Well done both teams.
NEXT WEEK WE HOST BARNARD CASTLE. NUMBER ONE’S AFTER THE GAME PLEASE
